Battlestar Galactica Expansion Unveiled
Everyone is raving about Fantasy Flight’s Battlestar Galactica board game, and yet no-one in DowntimeTown has ever played it. Usual story – before you even get the base game, the expansion gets announced.
Fantasy Flight themselves should probably explain it, since I haven’t even seen the show.
This fall brings the first expansion for Battlestar Galactica: The Board Game. The Pegasus expansion adds two new supplemental game boards featuring the Battlestar Pegasus and the planet of New Caprica, seven new characters, a new Cylon Locations overlay, two plastic Basestars, as well as new Destination, Crisis, Loyalty, Quorum, Super Crisis, and Skill cards.
So that’s even more betrayal for your buck. You’ve always wanted to be a secret toaster, right? Note: I have NO idea what I’m talking about.
It’s excited the community, though. So here’s an image of a character sheet, with a guy who looks like he might be Dean Stockwell, but I have NO CLUE.

Oh Boy.

Yep, that is Dean Stockwell. He plays a pretty evil bastard in the show.
It IS Dean Stockwell and he is amazing! Just dont call him John……you have no idea what I’m talking about.
As someone who *also* hadn’t seen the show before playing the game, and played with 4 others who *also also* hadn’t seen the show, I can only recommend it. It’s a brilliantly fun game, whether or not you’ve seen the show or know any of the backstory. The whole semi-cooperative thing is a ton of fun: Everyone working together for survival, except that a couple of players are secretly Cylons working to sabotage everything. Or they might be sleeper agents, thinking they’re human until about halfway through the game.
Lots of fun. Nothing spices up a boardgame like constant accusations of being a traiter flying across the table at all times.
I have mixed feelings on the expansion though. The game sort of loses focus with it, trying to do too much for no better reason than “it happened in the show”. Anyway, the base game is really a ton of fun. Play with backstabbing bastards.
doh, that should have been traitor, of course. Just woke up, can’t spell.
