great review, very personal which was a wonderful little insight.

the donkey image reminds me a lot of the work of francis bacon, it is a very awkward and powerful image that has an odd sinisterness.

Great video, as usual Robert. You remind me why I love games so much and why development of inspired ones is so important to the world.

And must concur, I thought this was a brilliant and touching comment on the game.

I know the idea of being a 'reviewer' became a drag with Consolevania so just tells us what you love. There's enough people to tear things down, it's glorious to see someone build things up :)

"Genuine passion and enthusiasm is infectious and it translates" - I think this summarizes well a lot of what you do. When you put it this way, this review and others make perfect sense. Like I said, I'm not trying to teach you anything. Feedback is feedback. I can't quite attest to whether or not the enthusiasm really translates - like you said, I'm way too boring to be affected by it and look to other things - but it does seem from other people's reaction that it does. Great! Because - as boring as this observation certainly is - your video reviews are by far the best available in the board gaming world, and everyone would benefit from them becoming more popular.
Cheers!

No. I can't agree with the comment above. Why? Because genuine passion and enthusiasm is infectious and it translates.

The Dixit review is a lesson in how one person's affection for something can be communicated beautifully.

So, in this spirit that you have embraced Oleg, let me, in turn, review your review of that review:

Oleg, I thought your review, your novella, was too boring. I thought you should have made it funnier. It's not the kind of review i'd read twice. You're not the kind of person I'd like to meet twice. I would suggest that it made you sound like you have a touch of the pedantic-soul-crushing-boring-bastards. I give you, the human-comedown, one star.

Just japing, likes.

Also the art is terrific and Oleg doesn´t get the positive thing at all!

Robert, if you'll allow me to express an opinion: I find this one weaker than most of your reviews. In that it is much more of a purchase recommendation than critique. Purchase recommendations in their purest form are fine for people who are looking to make a purchase, but are utterly uninteresting for anyone else. Worse still, they are not worth watching the second time. They are not worth sending to people who are not looking to make a purchase: "Look, what a witty take!" They are Tom Vasel. You must have your reasons for proclaiming your love for him, but, from where I stand, none of his reviews is worth a second look - they are not even meant for that. And, unlike you, he puts up half a dozen reviews a month - so you don't watch any of his reviews twice, but you still see a whole lot of him - which is certainly good for him in terms of reputation, etc.

Not telling you how to do your thing. I'm not even sure what you see your thing is. In my view, with your general style and with your schedule (let's face it, there isn't a whole lot of you on the net), artsy reviews Space-Hulk-style - those people end up liking and watching and re-watching regardless of how they feel about the game - are much better suited for you. Explaining a simple game to a very broad audience for 15 minutes, where wit is mere bonus, not the meat of the review, is much more forgettable than it should be and than you can make it.
